KGen is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, KGen earns from qualifying purchases. Links to amazon.com on this site are paid links that go straight to Amazon and carry our tracking ID. Prices we mention are the makers' own list prices, not Amazon's; check Amazon for the current price.

What commissions do NOT buy

• They do not buy a better verdict. A product that pays us gets the same scrutiny as one that does not.
• They do not buy placement. "Editor's Pick" and rankings reflect our assessment, not payouts. Guides also cover products we earn nothing from.
• They do not silence criticism. Our reviews list cons and deal-breakers even for products we link to.

Products we review

Our reviews are currently desk research, built from vendors' official pages and public user feedback, and each one says so. When we test a product hands-on, we use free trials or subscriptions we pay for ourselves, and the review states what was tested and when. If a vendor provides free access for review purposes, we say so in the review. We decline any arrangement that requires a positive review as a condition.

Pricing explainers, comparisons, alternatives and roundups are desk research, not hands-on tests. They are built from vendors' official pricing and documentation pages and from public user reviews, with sources listed on each page. See how we research.
